Muscat – H E Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a phone call with Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

His Excellency expressed the Sultanate of Oman’s sincere congratulations to the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt on the occasion of the election of Dr. Khaled El-Enany as Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), making him the first Arab to hold this high-profile international position. He emphasised that this victory reflects the prestigious scientific and cultural standing of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and its pioneering role in supporting dialogue and peace and promoting the values ​​of tolerance and understanding among people.

For his part, His Excellency the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the Sultanate of Oman for its support for the Egyptian candidate, commending its honorable stances and constant support for Egypt in various regional and international forums. He also emphasised the deep-rooted and solid fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries
