Clicking, carting, changing Oman

5 Oct 2025 Clicking, carting, changing Oman By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – Online shopping in Oman is gaining popularity as consumers embrace convenience, faster delivery and secure payment systems. While some shoppers appreciate the growing reliability of local platforms, others point to limited variety, higher prices and slower logistics compared to larger markets. Here’s what Muscat Daily readers said about their online shopping experience in the sultanate:

Online shopping in Oman holds remarkable potential, simplifying daily life and unlocking new opportunities for businesses. To enhance this experience, authorities can focus on faster logistics, reliable delivery, secure transactions and stronger support for local platforms. With the right policies today, Oman can build a brighter and more trusted digital shopping future.

Online shopping has improved a lot in Oman in the last few years. We now have apps and websites that deliver within Muscat in just a day. However, compared to Dubai or Saudi, options are still limited. Prices are fair, but I often feel variety in fashion and electronics items is missing. Still, it’s convenient.

I use online shopping mostly for electronics and home items. The services are reliable and deliveries usually come on time. The problem is that many products listed online are not always in stock locally and delivery gets delayed. Compared to going to a mall, online is easier, but choice and discounts could be better.

For groceries and essentials, online shopping has become very practical in Oman. The apps work smoothly, and payments are secure. But when I try to buy clothes or international brands, I still rely on sites abroad like Amazon. Shipping charges and waiting time are the drawbacks. Overall, it’s useful for daily needs but not perfect.

Rakesh Sharma, Private sector employee
Oman’s online shopping scene is smaller. In other countries, you can find almost everything with discounts. Here, choices are limited, especially in fashion and gadgets. But the delivery service is good and fast. For basic needs, it works fine, but not for variety.

Priya Dileep, Homemaker

I think online shopping in Oman is reliable and fast but needs more options. Delivery timelines are consistent, and quality is mostly assured, which I appreciate. But compared to Flipkart or Amazon, prices here are higher and choices fewer. Still, it saves me travel time to malls, so I use it regularly.
