Muscat – Ihsaan Association has added a new ambulance to its fleet, bringing the total to eight vehicles dedicated to helping the elderly and people with disabilities access healthcare services.
The new ambulance, named Ghaith (rain), was unveiled on Tuesday with support from Al Jisr Foundation. It will serve residents of Buraimi governorate, transporting them to hospitals in Muscat Governorate seven days a week.
Jokha Mohammed Khamis al Farsi, founder and head of Ihsaan Association, said the initiative reflects the organisation’s mission to provide social care and improve the quality of life of senior citizens across the sultanate.
“Our goal is to ensure that the elderly receive the healthcare they need by facilitating their transportation to hospitals for check-ups and treatment,” Jokha told Muscat Daily.
Ihsaan’s fleet now includes ambulances named Rahma, Kefah, Afia, Atta, Hiba, Aminia, Amal and Ghaith.
“We chose these names to symbolise empathy and compassion, reinforcing our mission to serve the elderly with kindness,” Jokha added.
Since its inception, the association has facilitated hospital access for more than 7,000 elderly individuals across Muscat and other wilayats. The service is operated with the support of 140 volunteers, including 52 dedicated ambulance drivers.
Jokha also highlighted the association’s ongoing awareness campaign in Muscat governorates. “The campaign aims to raise awareness among school students about the importance of honouring parents and the value of volunteer work,” she said.
Looking ahead, Ihsaan is working to expand its services to all governorates and has called on private institutions to support its goal of providing at least one ambulance in each governorate.
