EU launches entry/exit tracking for non-EU nationals

22 Sep 2025

Brussels – The European Union has announced that, starting 12 October 2025, the Entry/Exit System (EES) will gradually begin recording information for non-EU nationals travelling for short stays across 29 EU countries. The system will collect:

  • Travel document details
  • Travel dates
  • Biometric data, including fingerprints and facial recognition

This rollout is fully in line with EU data protection rules, ensuring that personal information is securely managed.

This initiative is part of the EU’s broader effort to strengthen border security, improve travel monitoring, and streamline entry and exit procedures for visitors from non-member countries.

Travellers are advised to ensure their travel documents are valid and comply with all relevant EU entry requirements.
