Muscat – In a move to promote Oman’s rich cultural heritage and strengthen public-private partnerships, Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) has signed an agreement to loan a collection of archaeological artefacts for display at Bahla Fort, a Unesco World Heritage Site.
The agreement was signed with the investment company overseeing the development and management of Bahla Fort. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of senior officials from the ministry and representatives of the investing company.
Bahla Fort is the first site in Oman to be inscribed on Unesco’s World Heritage List in 1987 and remains a key cultural landmark attracting visitors from around the world.
This initiative forms part of the ministry’s broader efforts to revitalise heritage landmarks across the sultanate and enhance the visitor experience at key cultural sites.

Under the agreement, a carefully curated selection of artefacts – unearthed in the vicinity of Bahla Fort and Mosque – will be loaned for exhibition within specially designated areas inside the fort and mosque. Display halls have been developed in coordination with the investment partner to meet international standards of museum presentation and conservation.
The artefacts have been meticulously documented and classified, and will be showcased in a manner that ensures both their preservation and their educational value for visitors.
MHT reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Oman’s archaeological legacy through sustainable collaborations that balance cultural preservation with tourism development.
