Muscat – Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran Group) marked its 20th anniversary with an announcement of new tourism projects and strategic partnerships aimed at expanding the sector and attracting international investment.

The deals, unveiled at a ceremony on Monday under the patronage of H E Salim bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, include developments in integrated tourism complexes, luxury hospitality, agri-tourism and digital ventures.

According to Abdulsalam Mohammed al Murshidi, President of Oman Investment Authority,  the agreements reflect OIA’s role in driving diversification. “Through Omran Group, we are launching strategic investments in tourism, one of the most promising sectors, with broad economic and social returns. The aim is to further enhance the sultanate’s position as a leading tourism and investment destination in line with Oman Vision 2040,” he said.

Hashil Obaid al Mahrouqi, CEO of Omran Group, said the focus remains on building partnerships with leading local and global players. “Our strategy is aligned with strengthening infrastructure, diversifying tourism experiences and attracting fresh investment flows,” he said.

Among the highlights is an agreement with VA Group to develop a mixed-use project at the Sultan Qaboos Port waterfront. Three additional deals were announced under the Yiti Integrated Tourism Development, including mixed-use projects with VA Group and Aurelian Group, and a luxury resort under the Nobu brand with Enevória Development.

Another project unveiled is Janaen Salalah, Oman’s first integrated agri-tourism project to be developed with Oman Agriculture Development Company.

The ceremony also showcased models of major upcoming projects such as Madinat al Irfan, Sultan Qaboos Port Waterfront, Four Seasons Resort and the Opera District development.

In Musandam, Omran will introduce the region’s first Club Med Resort, adding a new offering in luxury hospitality. Updates were also shared on Santani Jabal Shams Resort, which is focused on wellness tourism, and Alie Nivas Musandam Resort, which combines premium hospitality with natural landscapes.

Visitor experience projects highlighted included upgrades at Wadi Shab, Ras al Shajar Nature Reserve, Majlis al Jinn Cave, Al Hoota Cave and Hayl al Diyar. Together, these aim to enhance Oman’s reputation as a destination for culture, nature and adventure.

Omran also expanded into digital and alternative accommodation markets, acquiring stakes in UK-based UnderTheDoormat and travel platform Godoba. Another agreement was signed with Handicrafts House – Dar al Herfya to establish a dedicated centre for Omani crafts and cultural heritage in Muttrah.

H E Azzan Qassim al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Tourism in Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and Chairman of Omran, affirmed that the group will continue to shape the future of the tourism sector in close collaboration with the ministry and other government entities, and further improve Oman’s global tourism standing.
