Oman’s main exports to Iraq included electrical cables, gold jewellery and marble, while natural gas, petroleum gas and propane gas mixtures topped imports from Iraq.
The two countries are linked by agreements including the Economic and Trade Cooperation Agreement, the Air Services Agreement and plans for a free trade zone.
Faisal Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), said the visit reflects the depth of bilateral relations. “The visit represents a significant opportunity to maximise economic and trade relations between the two countries, especially as the private sectors in Oman and Iraq have broad prospects for cooperation in energy, mining, petrochemicals, trade, transportation, logistics, tourism, food industries and agriculture.”
He highlighted Iraq’s ‘Development Road’ project as an area for potential Omani participation, offering international logistics connectivity linking the Gulf to Europe. Rawas added that OCCI is committed to fostering joint investments, building stronger business ties and encouraging cooperation between private sector institutions to diversify income and create jobs.
