Muscat – The Sultanate of Oman has announced that Sunday, September 7, will be an official holiday for employees in both the public and private sectors on the occasion of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday.
In a statement, the Ministry of Labour said, “On the occasion of the commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, peace and blessings be upon him, it has been decided that Sunday, the 14th of Rabi’ al Awwal 1447 AH, corresponding to the 7th of September 2025, will be an official holiday for employees of the State’s Administrative Apparatus and other legal entities, as well as establishments in the private sector.”
The ministry also clarified that private sector employers may require staff to work on the day if necessary, depending on the nature of their operations. In such cases, employees are entitled to compensation in accordance with the provisions of labour laws.
