Muscat – Majan Taekwondo Academy has set a new benchmark for Omani and Arab sport by securing 11 medals, including seven golds, at the Youth and Junior Taekwondo Grand Prix in China.
The club became the first Arab academy to claim seven gold medals in a single Grand Prix tournament. Its athletes also won three silver and one bronze.

The success follows years of structured preparation. The academy organised intensive domestic camps in Oman, focusing on physical and tactical training, alongside international camps in Korea, Jordan and Serbia. The athletes gained exposure to varied Taekwondo styles, advanced training methods, and continuous psychological preparation.

Tawfiq al Balushi, President of Majan Taekwondo Academy, said the results reflected years of planning. “Our aim has been to prepare a new generation of champions through international exposure and specialised training. Winning seven gold medals at the Grand Prix is a historic accomplishment for Oman and the Arab world, and it marks the beginning of even greater success.”
National coach Adel al Wahaibi noted that discipline was key to the team’s performance. The athletes, he said, “turned their rigorous preparation into historic gold medals on the mat”.

Mohammed al Mahrouqi, coach of Majan Academy, highlighted the role of comprehensive training. “We worked on tactics, fitness, mental readiness and fighting spirit. This achievement is the outcome of the players’ commitment and the teamwork of everyone involved.”
Team manager Ali al Maskari said proper planning and administrative support “played a decisive role in achieving this success”.
