Muscat – The developer of the Oman–UAE Railway Network has received the first shipment of railway tracks at SOHAR Port and Freezone, marking a key step in the construction of the cross-border project.

Hafeet Rail, which is developing and operating the 238km network, received more than 3,800 pieces of E260 tracks through the General Cargo Terminal operated by C Steinweg Oman. Each track measures 25m, with the shipment weighing 5,700 tonnes in total. The delivery is part of a planned supply of 33,100 tonnes.

The tracks were manufactured at ArcelorMittal’s facility in Gijón, Spain. Designed to withstand freight and passenger loads of up to 32.4 tonnes per axle, these are reinforced with fastening systems to ensure durability under demanding conditions.

The arrival paves the way for track-laying works, alongside preparations for further shipments in the coming months.

The project aims to connect SOHAR Port and Freezone with the UAE’s national railway network, improving supply chain integration and transport efficiency.

Hafeet Rail is a partnership between Oman’s Asyad Group, Etihad Rail and Mubadala. The project is seen as a cornerstone in advancing economic cooperation, logistics integration and sustainable transport infrastructure between the two countries.
