24 Aug 2025 Switzerland announces scholarships for Omani researchers By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat –Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MoHERI), represented by its General Directorate of Scholarships, has announced the availability of a number of study grants offered by the Swiss Government under the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for Foreign Scholars and Artists programme for the academic year 2026-2027.

The scholarships are aimed at supporting doctoral and postdoctoral studies across a wide range of academic and research fields.

MoHERI stated that the opportunity is open to candidates who meet the eligibility criteria. Information on the grants, application procedures, and the official application form for 2026-2027 can be accessed through the registration link on the ministry’s electronic portal www.moheri.gov.om

The ministry confirmed that the deadline for submission is Sunday, November 28, 2025.

Applicants must be registered at one of the universities recommended by MoHERI, listed on its official website; choose an academic programme accredited and approved by the Swiss authorities; not combine this scholarship with any other academic or professional programme, and ensure that if the proposed research involves more than one recommended university, approval is obtained from the Swiss headquarters.

MoHERI also emphasised that after receiving initial acceptance from the Swiss side, applicants must complete their request through the ministry’s electronic system to secure final approval to commence studies.

The ministry urged interested scholars and researchers to apply early and ensure their submissions meet all requirements, noting that the initiative offers Omani academics an opportunity to further strengthen their skills, contribute to global research, and represent the sultanate in international academic communities.
