Muscat – Muscat Municipality has warned vehicle owners against displaying cars for sale in non-designated areas, citing traffic safety concerns, violation of regulations and harm to the city’s urban image.
In a statement, the municipality said the practice compromises road safety and detracts from the capital’s appearance. It noted that selling cars in unauthorised locations leads to traffic congestion, obstructs pedestrian movement, disturbs residents, blocks visibility and spoils the cityscape.
According to Decision No 55/2017, engaging in the unlicensed activity of selling vehicles on public streets can result in fines and suspension of work until a proper licence is obtained.
The municipality urged the public to use designated car sale areas to preserve safety, order and the visual harmony of Muscat.
