Muscat – Muscat Municipality has issued a reminder urging residents to safeguard street names and building numbers, emphasising that tampering with them can have serious consequences.
In a statement, the municipality said, ‘Removing or defacing street names and building numbers causes confusion for residents and visitors alike, and may hinder the arrival of emergency services such as ambulances and fire engines.’
‘These signs are not installed arbitrarily – they play a vital role in organising daily life and ensuring the smooth delivery of services. We urge everyone to respect and maintain them,’ the statement added.
The municipality highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in safeguarding public property, particularly essential infrastructure that supports emergency response and urban planning.
