Tehran, Iran – Muscat is set to host a fresh round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States on Sunday, with Oman once again playing the role of mediator.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed the upcoming talks, stating that both sides would meet in Muscat for the sixth time, with Omani mediation continuing under the guidance of Foreign Minister H E Sayyid Badr al Busaidi. Three previous rounds were held in Muscat and two in Rome.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi, said Tehran was in the final stages of preparing its written response to a US proposal concerning Iran’s nuclear programme.
“We are preparing the response, which has not yet been finalised,” Takht-e-Ravanchi told the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency.
“Good work has been made on it, and we believe that the response we will provide will be reasonable. We hope it will be completed in the coming days and handed over to Oman’s Foreign Minister so he can convey it to the Americans.”
