Moscow, Russia – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation graced the signing of an agreement, a protocol and nine memoranda of understanding at Kremlin Palace in Moscow on Tuesday.
The pacts covered several areas, including a mutual visa waiver agreement, an economic and technical cooperation protocol to establish a joint economic committee between the governments of Oman and the Russian Federation, and MoUs on climate change and low-carbon development, transport and transit, and cooperation in combating money laundering and terrorist financing between Oman’s National Centre for Financial Information and Russia’s Federal Financial Monitoring Service.
Additional MoUs were signed on fisheries cooperation between Oman’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and Russia’s Federal Agency for Fisheries; news and information exchange between Oman’s Ministry of Information (represented by Oman News Agency) and media group Rossiya Segodnya; cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of Oman and Diplomatic Academy of Russia; media cooperation between Ministry of Information and Russia Today TV; partnership between Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Russia’s Roscongress Foundation; and administrative collaboration between Royal Academy of Management and Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.
The pacts were signed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; Hamoud bin Salim al Tuwaih, Oman’s Ambassador to Russia; and Col Abdulrahman bin Amer al Kiyoumi, CEO of National Centre for Financial Information, on behalf of the Omani government.
