Muscat – The Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations of the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has issued an urgent warning regarding a rising fraudulent scheme involving a counterfeit website impersonating the official Consumer Protection Authority platform.
According to the ROP, scammers have been using this fake website to deceive individuals into providing their personal and banking details, which are then exploited to withdraw funds from victims’ accounts.
The police have urged the public to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of websites before entering sensitive information. They emphasised that the Consumer Protection Authority does not request bank card details for any of its services.
Authorities encourage anyone who encounters such fraudulent websites to report them immediately.
