Muscat – The General Directorate of Investigations and Criminal Investigation has arrested two individuals of Arab nationality for committing fraud through a counterfeit website designed to resemble an official platform.

According to the Royal Oman Police (ROP), the suspects lured victims into providing sensitive banking details, subsequently seizing funds from their accounts. The stolen money was then re-transferred through exchange offices and cryptocurrency trading platforms.

Legal proceedings against the accused are currently underway. The ROP has reiterated the importance of verifying the authenticity and reliability of websites, urging the public not to respond to requests to receive or re-transfer funds that may originate from illegal sources.

Authorities continue to warn against cyber fraud and urge residents to remain vigilant against such scams.
