Muscat – The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has raised concerns following the publication of an illegal practice involving the use of metal detectors to search for and excavate archaeological artifacts, in clear violation of the Omani Cultural Heritage Law.

The Ministry has urged the public to refrain from such activities and emphasised that legal measures will be enforced in accordance with the Omani Cultural Heritage Law, as set out in Royal Decree (35/2019).

In a statement, the Ministry confirmed that necessary actions are being taken to address these violations and called on citizens to cooperate in safeguarding the Sultanate’s rich cultural heritage.
