Muscat – The 2nd Oman-Singapore Strategic Dialogue was held in Muscat on Sunday. The discussions focused on advanced technology, clean and renewable energy, food and water security, the digital economy, maritime security, and cybersecurity.

The Omani delegation was chaired by Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr al Busaidi and Maj Gen Idris bin Abdulrahman al Kindi, Secretary General of the National Security Council. The Singaporean delegation was led by K Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law, and Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman, Singapore’s Second Minister for Foreign Affairs.

The dialogue followed up on the outcomes of the visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to Singapore in December 2023, which marked a new phase of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Both delegations commended the achievements of past years and affirmed their commitment to furthering these gains and expanding prospects for mutual collaboration.

The two delegations emphasised the importance of innovation and supporting joint projects, particularly in green hydrogen and solar energy, while exploring promising opportunities in artificial intelligence and sustainable smart city applications.

Regional and international developments were also reviewed, with an emphasis on the importance of promoting dialogue and diplomacy as tools for achieving security and stability. The two delegations exchanged views on global issues and shared challenges.

Both parties highlighted the importance of maintaining this strategic dialogue as an effective mechanism to enhance political and security coordination and to advance economic and technical cooperation.

They noted the key role that public private partnerships can play in achieving sustainable development, as well as fostering cultural exchanges to strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two peoples. They also underscored the need to explore further opportunities for engagement and joint programmes in various fields that serve the shared interests of the two nations.
