Oman extends condolences to Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan following plane crash

Muscat – The Sultanate of Oman has expressed its heartfelt condolences to the governments and people of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan following the tragic crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane near the city of Aktau, located in western Kazakhstan.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, Oman conveyed its deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and wished the injured a swift recovery.

The accident occurred late on Wednesday evening when the aircraft flew out from Baku to Russian city of Grozny, crashed under unclear circumstances. Local authorities in Kazakhstan confirmed that emergency crews are working at the site, with investigations underway to determine the cause of the crash. Initial reports indicate multiple fatalities and injuries.

Both nations have declared mourning periods, as condolences pour in from leaders and organisations worldwide. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Oman’s solidarity with Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan during this tragic time.
