Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik issued four Royal Decrees on Sunday reading as follows:
Royal Decree No 51/2024 establishes the National Records Centre and defines its prerogatives.
- Article 1 stipulates that a public administration, to be named ‘National Records Centre’, will be established within the organisational structure of the Royal Oman Police.
- Article 2 states that the prerogatives of the National Records Centre will be defined in accordance with the annex attached to this decree.
- Article 3 stipulates that all allocations, assets, rights, obligations and origins of the national records at the Electronic Census of Population, Housing and Establishments 2020 Project will be transferred to the National Records Centre.
- Article 4 states that employees of the Electronic Census of Population, Housing and Establishments 2020 Project will be transferred to the National Records Centre with their financial grades.
- Article 5 states that the Inspector-General of Police and Customs will issue the regulations and decisions necessary for the implementation of the provisions of this decree
- Article 6 cancels all that contradicts the decree or contravenes its provisions.
- Article 7 states that this decree will be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from its date of issue.
Royal Decree No 52/2024 promulgates the National Records Law.
- Article 1 stipulates that the National Records Law attached to this decree will be enforced.
- Article 2 states that the Inspector-General of Police and Customs will issue the regulations of the attached law after the approval of the Council of Ministers. Till such time, existing regulations and decisions in force will continue to be applied without prejudice to the provisions of the attached law.
- Article 3 cancels all that contradicts the attached law or contravenes its provisions.
- Article 4 states that this decree will be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from the day following its date of issue.
Royal Decree No 53/2024 appoints a Permanent Representative for the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations in New York.
- Article 1 transfers Omar bin Said bin Omar al Kathiri, the Sultanate of Oman’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain and appoints him as Oman’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.
- Article 2 states that this decree will be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from its date of issue.
Royal Decree No 54/2024 appoints judges at the Supreme Court.
- Article 1 states that the individuals named in the list attached to this decree will be appointed as judges at the Supreme Court.
- Article 2 states that this decree will be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from its date of issue.
