Muscat – H E Sayyid Badr Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, received a phone call on Monday from David Lammy, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom.
During the conversation, the two ministers discussed the historical and strategic relations between Oman and the UK, emphasising their commitment to enhancing economic ties, particularly in the energy sector, including renewable energy, as well as in security and defence cooperation.
They also addressed recent developments in the region, highlighting the urgent need for intensified regional and international efforts to halt military escalations and mitigate the worsening humanitarian situation. Both ministers expressed concern over the rising number of civilian casualties in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories, particularly in the Gaza Strip, which poses increasing risks to regional stability.
They called for opening of urgent and safe humanitarian corridors to deliver relief supplies to Gaza Strip, as well as support for the Palestinian National Authority and resumption of full international backing for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
