Muscat – Nama launched the third edition of the Oman Electricity and Energy Conference on Tuesday at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, with a focus on advancing Oman’s energy transformation plans.

The three-day conference has been inaugurated by Dr Khamis bin Saif al Jabri, head of Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit, with local and international experts taking part in this crucial meeting.

Ahmed bin Amer al Mehrazi, CEO of Nama Group, highlighted the sector’s shift towards renewable energy and the ongoing challenges, such as climate change and increasing energy demand. He stressed the importance of collaborative discussions to find innovative solutions.

Eng Abdullah al Wahaibi, Chairman of the Power and Energy Society IEEE, outlined the conference’s agenda, which includes discussions on energy sector developments, transmission and distribution systems, efficiency, and sustainable technologies. The conference aims to highlight Oman’s efforts in energy transformation, carbon reduction and economic diversification in line with Oman Vision 2040.

The event will feature working papers, visual presentations, specialised discussion sessions, and workshops on network flexibility, energy storage, smart grids, and hydrogen energy. An accompanying exhibition will showcase the latest technologies and provide a platform for research and studies in the energy sector, the organisers said.
