Muscat – The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, in collaboration with the Oman Across Ages Museum, is set to host a special exhibition in Manah to highlight the importance of museums and heritage houses in the country’s cultural heritage.

The ‘Museums and Private Heritage Houses Exhibition’ will take place at the Oman Across Ages Museum, in Manah, Dakhliyah governorate, from August 26 to September 25.

The exhibition is being held to spotlight museums and private heritage houses, emphasising their role as vital cultural tourism destinations. It also seeks to highlight their importance in preserving and showcasing Oman’s rich cultural heritage.

The Oman Across Ages Museum, inaugurated by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik in March 2023 and built under the Royal orders of the Late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, has been in the centre stage of activities for the promotion of Oman’s culture and heritage.

As the largest museum of its kind in the region, it received over 350,000 domestic and international visitors in 2023.

It offers an interactive exploration of the sultanate’s cultural and geographic diversity, featuring galleries, a library, an auditorium, cafés, and dedicated spaces for social and research activities.

The museum houses one of the sultanate’s largest restoration and preservation laboratories, with specialised programmes for restoration work and collaboration with international experts.
