Why is Oman an expat haven

18 Aug 2024 Why is Oman an expat haven

With a diverse culture, tolerance, safety and opportunities to excel, Oman is one of the best countries for expatriates, according to the Expat Insider 2024 survey. Why do you think Oman is good for expats? Here’s what Muscat Daily readers said –

Ahmed Ali, Businessman

Oman’s diverse culture has welcomed expatriates for centuries. The nation’s strong sense of tolerance allows people from different backgrounds to live harmoniously, making it easier for expats to adapt and feel at home. Additionally, the safety and security in Oman are unmatched, providing peace of mind to families and individuals alike. This combination of cultural richness and safety makes Oman a top choice for expatriates.

As an expatriate, I find Oman offers numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth. The country’s robust economy and stable job market make it an ideal place for career advancement. Beyond work, Oman’s stunning natural landscapes and rich history provide endless opportunities for exploration and cultural immersion. I am also a trekker and find the country a haven for adventure.

Ramesh Singh, Engineer

Oman’s commitment to maintaining a peaceful and tolerant society is what sets it apart for expatriates. The friendly, hospitable and tolerant nature of Omanis makes it easy for newcomers to integrate into the community. There are mosques and temples side by side. Food is affordable but in recent times rents have soared high. The country has always laid stress on education, healthcare and infrastructure ensuring a high quality of life.

Shakila Javed, Lecturer

Oman is an amazing country for expatriates because it offers great job opportunities and a high standard of living. It is easy to settle here because of the people, culture and safety it offers. Omanis are the most welcoming and warm people I have ever encountered. They are open to all races, religions and genders working and living in harmony.

Some of the reasons are ease of settling in, affordable cost of living, lifestyle and leisure, tax free salaries and friendly and welcoming environment. These factors combined make Oman an excellent choice for expatriates seeking a balance between a comfortable lifestyle, affordability and a welcoming community.

Azhan, Private sector employee

Oman remains appealing to expatriates for its safety, quality of life and modern amenities. His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s leadership continues to foster stability and development, making it a welcoming and secure place to live.

Ayesha, Private sector employee

The recent mosque attack has raised questions on security. Increasing Omanisation is endangering jobs of expats. Additionally, expats have no power of authority; for everything sponsors are required.

Next Week’s Question – Muscat Municipality recently stated that hanging laundry in balconies of residential buildings is a violation of law punishable with a fine ranging from RO50 to RO500. What do you think about this rule?
