Muscat – Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) and Omran Group have signed a usufruct agreement to develop Majlis al Jinn cave in Quriyat on Monday.
The agreement aims to establish an eco-tourism project and implement necessary facilities for adventure tourism, including safety equipment and operational services.
The usufruct contract was signed by H E Salim Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, and Dr Hashel bin Obaid al Mahrouqi, CEO of Omran Group.
Under the agreement, Omran will manage operational aspects such as appointing and training guides, protecting the local wildlife and environment, and collaborating with specialised operators to develop a sustainable long-term plan for the site.
Omran will initially focus on organising adventure programmes for visitors to Majlis Al Jinn. Subsequent plans will include setting up an information centre, reception facilities and eco-lodges in later phases.
Majlis al Jinn is renowned as one of the largest subterranean caves globally, boasting dimensions of 310m in length, 225m in width and a floor spanning 58,000sqm.
