Muscat – Muscat Municipality has issued a call to residents, urging them to stop feeding birds in public areas.

The practice not only poses health risks, but also damages the environment and imposes economic burdens.

In a statement issued by Municipality said, ‘Bird droppings can carry diseases and create unpleasant odors when exposed to sunlight and moisture. The practice fosters breeding grounds for insects and parasites, while also damaging buildings, sidewalks, and streets. Increased expenses for cleaning, maintenance, and pest control contracts are a further consequence.’

By avoiding feeding birds in public spaces, citizens can help maintain a cleaner and safer urban environment.
