Muscat – In a move to boost infrastructure and enhance quality of life, Dakhliyah has initiated a comprehensive development agenda, announcing the implementation of 43 projects valued at over RO22mn this year.

Spearheaded by Dakhliyah Governor’s Office, these projects encompass a diverse range of initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth, improving urban landscapes and augmenting public amenities.

Elaborating on the development agenda, Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed al Hajri, Governor of Dakhliyah, said, “There is strategic focus on vital sectors such as road infrastructure, market development and recreational spaces. Noteworthy among these endeavours are extensive road paving and rehabilitation projects in various wilayats, including ambitious internal road paving projects in Bahla and Al Hamra, of 62km and 51km respectively, slated for completion at the end of 2024.”

Sulaiman bin Hamad al Sunaidi, Director General of Dakhliyah Municipality, emphasised the municipality’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and accessibility across the governorate.

Highlighting key initiatives, Sunaidi outlined ongoing internal road paving projects in Samail, Bidbid, Jabal Akhdar, Manah and Izki, underscoring the municipality’s proactive approach towards fostering industrial development and improving transportation infrastructure.

Additionally, the governorate’s efforts to elevate its aesthetic appeal and promote recreational spaces has led to the implementation of projects aimed at beautifying entrances to wilayats, enhancing commercial areas, and developing parks and gardens. “Notable among these is a comprehensive project to develop the entrance to Nizwa, encompassing recreational spaces, afforestation, pedestrian paths and parking facilities to create a vibrant and inviting urban environment,” Sunaidi said.

The governorate is working to provide its residents enhanced opportunities for leisure and recreation, as evidenced by the ongoing initiatives to establish, develop and rehabilitate parks and gardens across various wilayats, Sunaidi added.

“From floating tenders for public parks to awarding contracts for the rehabilitation of existing green spaces, the municipality is actively fostering community engagement and well-being.”

As the governorate continues to progress towards its vision of sustainable development and economic prosperity, these transformative projects underscore its unwavering dedication to fostering growth, prosperity and a high quality of life for all its residents.
