Muscat – Dhahirah governorate is set to bring Eid al Fitr celebrations to life with an elaborate festival at Ibri’s Events Square, scheduled from April 10 to April 13. 

An official from Dhahirah Governor’s Office informed that the event will host numerous activities aimed at entertaining families and individuals of all ages.

The festival’s itinerary is packed with traditional folk arts, engaging competitions for children, captivating cartoon shows, and a consumer exhibition, ensuring a blend of cultural showcase and entertainment. 

Additionally, attendees can enjoy horse shows and electric games, suitable for both children and adults.

A highlight for the younger audience will be a children’s theatre presenting a variety of performances throughout the festival. To enhance visitor experience, the square will feature an array of dining options, including restaurants and mobile cafes.

In a parallel initiative to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the governorate, officials have announced the launch of Dhahirah Award for the most innovative pioneering projects. With prize money of RO6,000, the competition is designed to support local innovators, encouraging a culture of creativity across various sectors, including energy and minerals, food security, manufacturing and logistics.

Eligibility for the competition stipulates that participants must be at least 18 years old, with teams capped at five members. Each entrant or team is allowed to submit a single project, which must be original, practical and beneficial to society. Submission requirements include a concise written summary and a short explanatory video. Additionally, participants must undertake that their project has not been registered as intellectual property elsewhere. The competition is limited to projects that can be implemented in Dhahirah governorate.

Deadline for submitting projects is set for April 9, with the announcement of winners scheduled for June 1. “The committee reserves the right to exclude any contestant not meeting the competition criteria,” the official cautioned.
