GCC centre partners with UK health agency

Muscat – In a significant move to bolster public health infrastructure, the Gulf Centre for Disease Prevention and Control entered into a collaborative agreement with the UK Health Security Agency on Wednesday.

The partnership is aimed at enhancing exchange of knowledge and best practices in public health management, marking a crucial step in ongoing efforts to fortify health surveillance and epidemic response mechanisms across the GCC region.

The collaboration encompasses a broad spectrum of activities, including exchange of health-related information and data, organisation of joint workshops and seminars, development of training programmes aimed at capacity building, and cooperation in the realms of health research and epidemiological assessments.

Dr Pasi Penttinen, CEO of Gulf Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting its potential to pave new paths for international cooperation in public health. He emphasised the partnership’s role in enhancing the region’s preparedness and responsiveness to health crises.
