Muscat – The Ministry of Education (MoE) celebrated the achievements of students who excelled in the Arabic Language Knights competition at a ceremony held on Sunday.

The event, part of the Arabic Language Month initiative of the Arab League, took place at the Directorate-General of Education in Muscat.

H E Dr Madiha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, who graced the event as chief guest, underscored the importance of Arabic language in educational and cultural spheres.

Dr Suleiman al Jamoudi, Director-General of Educational Supervision and Chairman of the competition’s main committee, highlighted its role in encouraging creativity, competitiveness and talent development among students, in line with school curricula.

The competition covered five categories – story, essay, poetry, calligraphy and drawing – pitting 228 students from both public and private schools in three groups based on grade.

It not only celebrated the linguistic and artistic talents of participants but also aimed to position Oman prominently in regional and international cultural arenas.

Jamoudi emphasised the broader vision of the initiative, which extends beyond the competition to include extracurricular activities and workshops designed to refine students’ skills in Arabic language.

Jamoudi’s address reflected MoE’s commitment to nurturing student talent in alignment with Oman Vision 2040 objectives of fostering a society that values creativity, innovation and cultural pride.

The ceremony also featured a theatrical performance titled ‘Student Creations in Arabic Language’ and a film, ‘Arabic Language Knights’, celebrating the students’ achievements.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, H E Madiha honoured 44 students who won various categories of the competition, marking a milestone in their academic and creative journeys.

This competition is a testament to the ministry’s ongoing efforts to promote comprehensive growth in students, encompassing intellectual, emotional, spiritual and physical development, as envisioned in the School Education Law.
