Duqm – Sheikh Mishal al Ahmed al Jaber al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, arrived in the wilayat of Duqm, the Governorate of Al Wusta, on Wednesday to attend the opening ceremony of Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries, within the context of his state visit.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik led the welcoming party for the Emir at the Duqm Airport.

When the jet touched ground at the Airport, His Majesty the Sultan met the guest at the foot of the ramp.

Along with His Majesty the Sultan, Sheikh Mishal was received by Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said, Sayyid Taimour bin Asaad al Said, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Oman, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Dr. Hamad bin Said al Oufi, Head of the Private Office, Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, Hussein bin Abdul Latif, Advisor at the Private Office, Sayyid Dr Sultan bin Ya’rub al Busaidi, Advisor at the Private Office, Sayyid Faisal bin Hamoud al Busaidi, Advisor at the Diwan of Royal Court and Sheikh Ahmed bin Mussalam al Kithiri, Governor of Al Wusta.

His Majesty and the Emir then proceeded to the motorcade heading to the refinery, flanked by two rows of guards of honour of the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO).

A group of Omani and foreign students who study at A’soud Global School in Duqm lined up on the both sides of the road, carrying flags of Oman, Kuwait and their respective countries.

A number of citizens also lined up on the road to the refinery, expressing their delight and warm welcome for His Majesty the Sultan and the Emir of Kuwait.

Upon the arrival of the motorcade of His Majesty the Sultan and the Emir at the gate of the Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries, a popular reception was held, with the participation of locals of the Governorate of Al Wusta.
