Muscat – Muscat Dialogue Sessions 2023 concluded on Wednesday in the presence of Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat.

The sessions were held in implementation of Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to support the development process with the involvement of community members.

The agenda of these sessions covered a variety of topics, including the humanisation of cities, the potential of transforming the entertainment into a full-scale industry, exploring investment opportunities in Muscat governorate, and the significance of environmental volunteerism, innovation and technology.

The sessions that concluded on Wednesday resulted in 26 initiatives aimed at humanising cities and transforming entertainment into an industry, seven initiatives in environmental volunteering, 29 initiatives to enhance investment opportunities, and 60 initiatives in technology and innovation.

Initiatives included developing public markets, beaches and nature reserves, creating an electronic platform for environmental volunteering, establishing integrated tourist camps, and a factory for fish products.

Ahmed bin Mohammed al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, informed that ideas presented by the youth at the sessions will be transformed into real opportunities; implementation and design process for these have commenced.

Muscat Municipality is currently working on several projects, including merging Qurum Reserve with Qurum Park in coordination with Environment Authority. The project will see the establishment of walking trails and a museum.

In the works is transformation of Hawiyat Najm in the wilayat of Quriyat into a destination for camping enthusiasts.

Humaidi also confirmed that the Muttrah Square project, which won the Bilarab bin Haitham Architectural Design Award, will start in the first quarter of 2024.

Humaidi described the Muscat Dialogue Sessions as a showcase of Muscat governorate’s forward-thinking approach, leveraging the dynamism and creativity of its youth to shape a bright and sustainable future.
