Muscat – National Museum of Oman, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Sultanate of Oman, launched a book titled Common Proverbs and Idioms in Oman and Russia by author Sergei Romanov at St Petersburg State University, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Gallery of Oman at State Hermitage Museum on Thursday.

The book launch ceremony was attended by H H Sayyida Dr Mona bint Fahad al Said, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University for International Cooperation and Vice-Chairperson of Board of Trustees of National Museum of Oman, Jamal bin Hassan al Moosawi, Secretary-General of National Museum, H E Hamood bin Salim al Towaiya, Ambassador of Oman to Russia, Prof Dr Mikhail Petrovsky, Director General of State Hermitage Museum and Member of Board of Trustees of National Museum of Oman, several senior officials and a group of academics from St Petersburg State University, including its rector Prof Nikolay Krobachev.

The author of the book aims to introduce readers to the treasures of life philosophies among the two friendly peoples. Proverbs and common sayings in the sultanate make up one section of the book, while the second contains proverbs and sayings of Russian people.
