Muscat – In a push to promote tourism and energise the local economy, Musandam governorate, in collaboration with the Oman Automobile Association, hosted a classic car rally, as part of its ‘Musandam Winter’ 2023-24 season.
The event, held on December 3, witnessed the participation of 60 classic cars from the United Arab Emirates, marking the start of the winter tourist season that spans from October to April.
An official from the Musandam Governor’s Office noted that this classic car tour is part of the 1000 Miglia Experience UAE 2023, a renowned rally covering 1,600km across seven emirates and extending to Oman.
This race, for the first time, explored the picturesque Musandam Peninsula, renowned for its stunning mountainous roads. The event not only showcased the region’s scenic beauty but also offered a unique opportunity for the public to admire and learn about rare classic cars.
The Musandam winter season features an array of 20 tourism programmes and over 30 events spanning sports, culture, arts, and entertainment, the official added.
“These events are organised by various government and private institutions and aim to leverage the governorate’s robust tourism infrastructure.”
Musandam boasts seven hotel establishments with classifications ranging from 1 to 5 stars, encompassing 412 rooms, in addition to hotel apartments and green lodges. These activities are part of a broader strategy to highlight Musandam as a year-round tourist destination, the official added.
The Musandam Governor’s Office and the Oman Automobile Association’s collaborative efforts aim to attract a diverse international audience, bolstering Musandam’s reputation as a prime location for tourism and classic car rallies.
Further details and updates on the winter season’s activities will be announced through the social media accounts of the Musandam winter season.
