Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will open the first meeting of the Council of Oman’s eighth term on Tuesday.
In a statement, the Diwan of Royal Court said, ‘His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will open on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the first annual convening of the eighth term of the Council of Oman on its premises in Muscat.
‘The meeting will be attended by members of the Royal family, Council of Ministers, Chairman of State Council, Chairman of Majlis A’Shura, Commanders of Sultan’s Armed Forces and Royal Oman Police, members of State Council and Majlis A’Shura, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the Sultanate of Oman, members of the Supreme Judicial Council, Undersecretaries, Governors, prominent business persons, CEOs at Oman Investment Authority, editors-in-chief of local newspapers and representatives of committees and professional associations.’
Eighth Term of State Council starting on Wednesday
Based on Royal orders of His Majesty the Sultan, the State Council will begin its eighth term (2023-2027) by holding its first session of its first regular sitting on Wednesday.
The agenda of the session includes swearing-in of members of the eighth term, as well as a speech by Sheikh Abdulmalik Abdullah al Khalili, Chairman of State Council.
During its first session, the State Council will elect two deputies to the chairman and members of its office. Council members will also contest seats in its permanent committees.
