Oman is committed to achieving sustainable development, preserving the environment, and biodiversity for both current and future generations. It is one of the countries that has placed significant emphasis on modern agriculture within the priorities of Oman Vision 2040, which aims to achieve agricultural sustainability, food security and rural development in the country.
Oman also employs modern technologies and agricultural practices such as hydroponics, protected structure agriculture, organic farming and advanced irrigation techniques to increase productivity, improve the efficiency of water and energy resource utilisation, while developing infrastructure projects to support the agricultural sector. This includes improving rural roads and providing necessary logistics services for farmers.
Oman’s participation in Expo 2023 Doha is represented by the Omani Pavilion spread over 900sqm. The pavilion will feature a majlis and a store for selling agricultural products, with the participation of a number of government agencies, including ministries, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, and private agencies. The Omani pavilion includes a garden of authentic Omani trees, representing the richness and diversity of Omani nature.
