Muscat – The Governorate of Dakhliyah, in collaboration with Mwasalat, is inviting bids for an ambitious public transport facility in Nizwa. This integrated station for buses and taxis will ensure smoother transportation within and outside the city.
Spread over 11,412sqm, the project will include a passenger waiting area, shaded parking for taxis, public parking area and various commercial outlets aiming to create employment opportunities in the region.
The project’s investment duration has been set for 50 years. Last date to submit bids is December 17.
The project is part of the Governorate Development Programme, which witnessed a substantial funding boost from RO10mn to RO20mn by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. This increment is earmarked for each governorate in the ongoing Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) starting from 2022.
Besides the transportation project, Dakhliyah has a slew of development works in the pipeline. Earlier this year, the governorate sought proposals for 17 projects, including public parks, leisure zones and livestock barns.
An official of the governorate informed that three recreational facilities, ranging from 2,500sqm to 9,000sqm, are in the pipeline for the wilayat of Al Hamra.
Additionally, agricultural nurseries are planned in Nizwa and Izki, covering areas of 560sqm and 1,439sqm, respectively. Nizwa’s Tanuf Park, spread over 10,789sqm, is also on the bidding list, as are livestock barns in Nizwa and Manah.
Additionally, Manah is slated to get a new municipal park of 7,787sqm area, with a dedicated zone for bicycles and electric scooters, which will take up 448sqm of Manah Public Park.
Also in the pipeline are cafes in Nizwa and Jabal Akhdar to be made available on lease.
