Muscat – The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has confirmed the readiness of roads leading to Dhofar governorate. This follows a comprehensive maintenance and traffic safety operation to address issues resulting from climatic conditions.

In a statement, MTCIT informed that the maintenance activities included repair of damaged roads, upkeep of mountainous and dirt road networks in deserts, filling potholes, removing debris and leveling.

To ensure safety, ministry personnel are delegated for around-the-clock monitoring of roads. There is particular focus on removal of sand that accumulates due to monsoon winds, maintaining clear and safe passage for all travellers.

On the matter of public transportation, the ministry highlighted the operations of Mwasalat, which has started several internal and external routes to and from Dhofar. These services are complemented by several private sector operators.

MTCIT’s statement also added that licensed taxi applications in Dhofar will provide ‘on demand’ services. These services offer immediate or advance booking options, allowing users to track and monitor their journey. ‘With prices set before the trip begins, these applications ensure transparency, privacy and security for all users.’
