Muscat – South Batinah Municipality has stated that the Ain al Kasfa development project in Rustaq is 60 per cent complete. The project is being implemented in efforts to rejuvenate tourism and stimulate the economy.

A municipality official informed that the project, undertaken in collaboration with the Office of the Governor of South Batinah and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, has made substantial progress. “The comprehensive plan encompasses various enhancements, including expanding the car park to accommodate 33 vehicles, constructing new toilets, building a swimming pool, installing children’s rides and setting up kiosks.”

Additionally, as part of the development efforts, Ain al Kasfa will be covered with a transparent roof, while the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism will restore a watch tower adjacent to it to further enhancing the site’s appeal.

Renowned for its therapeutic sulphur content, the Ain al Kasfa hot water spring attracts tourists in large numbers.

An official from the Office of the Governor of South Batinah emphasised the governorate’s commitment to attracting investments and improving public amenities. Currently, the governorate is actively implementing 36 projects to develop various landmarks, with some nearing completion.

All these initiatives are part of the Governorates Development Programme, which aligns with the Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. Each governorate has been allocated RO20mn in the 10th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) to foster growth of local economies.
