Muscat – Almost 150 people attended a tourism promotion programme on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti (International Day of Vesak) at the residence of the Nepal ambassador on Friday. The programme was attended by media persons, tourism entrepreneurs, representatives of the banking sectors and Oman based Nepali organisations.
His Excellency Ambassador Dornath Aryal welcomed the guests and informed them about the importance of the International Day of Vesak (Buddha Jayanti). He also highlighted the cultural and natural attractions of Nepal. Popular monk Professor Dr. Anil Shakya shed light on the multifaceted aspects of the Buddhist philosophy and opined that it would be easier to establish a peaceful society by following the teachings of the Buddha. In addition, he gave a motivational speech on how to live a happy life without stress and self-motivation by understanding the fact that happiness lies within the soul. The senior officers of Nepal Tourism Board presented facts on Nepal tourism.
The evening concluded with Panche Baja (traditional Nepali Music) and lucky draw where two guests won two Muscat-Kathmadau return tickets sponsored by Al Jazeera Airlines.
On the same day in the morning, in collaboration with Nepali communities in Oman, a worship and a brief meditation programme was also organised at the residence of the ambassador.
