Muscat – Two Omani photographers – Hussein Ali al Amri and Salem Sultan al Hajri – made the sultanate proud by winning Qatar’s Sheikh Saoud al Thani Single Image Award for 2023.

Organised by Tasweer, established by Qatar Museums, the photo festival has been developed as a focal point for the personal and professional creative growth of photographers and image-makers in the region.

The event saw participation of photographers from Arab, West Asian and North African countries.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, Hajri said, “My winning photo is of an al ardha camel show held in Qabel, North Sharqiyah in 2022.”

Amri’s winning image is from 2019 of a mother in traditional Vietnamese attire embracing her son.

“While taking the picture, a dog entered the frame to feed its pups. The photo is called ‘Motherhood.’”
