Muscat – Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO), Shell Oman Marketing Company and Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing Company have been awarded contracts to supply aviation fuel to the sultanate’s national carrier Oman Air.

The three oil marketing firms will supply Oman Air with aviation fuel at Muscat International Airport and Sohar International Airport with a volume share of 33 per cent each, commencing on March 1, 2023 for a period of two years.

In a disclosure submitted to the Muscat Stock Exchange on Sunday, OOMCO said it received a letter of acceptance from Oman Air to confirm its proposal on supplying Oman Air with jet fuel at the Muscat International Airport and Sohar International Airport, with sales volume of 33 per cent of the total required supply volume, for a period of two years from March 1, 2023 to February 28, 2025.

‘The award of this contact reinforces OOMCO’s leadership in the fuel marketing sector across the sultanate. We are pleased to extend our gratitude to Oman Air for the confidence vested to OOMCO. We affirm our constant support and continuity of our joint cooperation to contribute supporting the growth and development of the aviation sector in Oman,’ OOMCO said.

Al Maha Petroleum informed the Muscat Stock Exchange on March 1 about the receipt of a letter of acceptance for the aviation fuel supply to Oman Air. As per the company’s disclosure, Al Maha Petroleum will also supply 33 per cent of Oman Air’s total fuel requirement at the Muscat Airport for two year – the contract is valued approximately RO59mn.

‘It is an honour to continue the successful business partnership with Oman Air which reflects our commitment to providing quality services with the highest professional standards in the aviation sector,’ the company said.

Last week Shell Oman also announced that it received a letter of acceptance from Oman Air to supply 33 per cent of required jet fuel volumes to the national carrier at the Muscat International Airport for two years.

‘We expect significant new income from this contract which further serves to underpin Shell Oman’s revenue streams. This award is a testament to Shell Oman’s high standards in health, safety, security and environment (HSSE), operational excellence, ethics and compliance as well as our competitive commercial terms,’ Shell Oman said in its disclosure to the Muscat Stock Exchange.
