Muscat – The Ministry of Education (MoE) has issued a ministerial decision (No 32/2023) reducing fees for non-Omani students in government schools by 50 per cent.

The decision provides for exempting some groups from tuition fee, in addition to reducing fees for a number of services provided by the ministry.

The decision also stipulates that children of non-Omanis working in the Ministry of Education will be charged 50 per cent less school fees and fees for non-Omani students in government schools will be RO50 instead of RO100.

The decision also includes reduction of fees of private schools, following submission of an application for establishment/construction/licence renewal from RO300 to RO150, and reducing licence fee for private schools from RO1,500 to RO750.

The decision was issued on January 30 and comes into effect a day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
