More paid parking zones from today: Muscat Municipality

1 Jan 2023 By

Muscat – Muscat Municipality has announced the conversion of some areas to paid parking zones in Muscat to meet the growing urbanisation and population density of the city from Sunday.

According to the administrative decision 151/2016 governing the use of public parking lots in Muscat, the use of parking lots near the building of the Directorate General of Labour Welfare of the Ministry of Labour in Ruwi will be against payments. Also, the new car parks at Al Khoud Souq and the ones behind the Ooredoo store in the area will also be against payments.

Beneficiaries can reserve parking via SMS by sending a text to 90091 containing the car number and code and the time period required (multiples of 30 to a maximum of 300 minutes).

A beneficiary will then receive a confirmation SMS containing the ticket number, car number and code, date and time of the reservation.

If the beneficiary needs to extend the time period he/she should send another SMS to 90091 following the same steps.

Users can use Baladiyeti app to reserve a car park for hours and can also obtain or renew a parking permit, or inquire about or pay fines.

Beneficiaries can visit Muscat Municipality website http://www.mm.gov.om/ to obtain or renew a parking permit or to inquire about or pay fines.
