MoH launches revamped e-Health portal

Muscat – As part of its digital transformation mission, the Ministry of Health launched a revamped e-Health portal at a ceremony held at the Grand Millennium Hotel in Muscat on Monday.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of H E Dr Hilal Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health, and in the presence of H E Dr Fatima Mohammed al Ajmi, Undersecretary in the MoH for Administrative, Financial, and Planning Affairs, along with a number of Directors General at the ministry, and heads of information technology from various directorates and hospitals.

In his address to the gathering, H E Dr Sabti stressed that the ministry “is committed to its Digital Transformation plan (2021-25) and implementation of digital initiatives in the health sector”.
He added that ministry was determined to complete the project of the National Digital Health Strategy in order to consolidate efforts of various sectors.

The Minister emphasised on the importance of integrating artificial intelligence in the health sector to boost the services.

“The ministry is also keen to enact laws and regulations to share medical record data with the public and private health institutions,” he pointed out.

The launch event highlighted the basic functioning of the portal, with the authorities explaining the details of the services that the ministry would extend through this platform.

During the event, the methodology of streamlining e-services and the implementation and development plan for the project were also reviewed, besides having a detailed presentation on digital health.

According to the ministry, the first phase of the MoH Digital Transformation would focus on automating the electronic health services in the Directorate General of Private Health Establishments, Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Control, in addition to Medial Staff Licensing, and other services linked to businesses and individuals involved in the sector.
