6 Nov 2022

Muscat – Oman is set to host the World Travel Awards (WTA) Grand Final Gala Ceremony 2022, now in its 29th edition, which will be held at Al Bustan Palace, A Ritz-Carlton Hotel on November 11.

‘With a view to supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism to promote the country and position Oman on the global tourism map as a key player, Oman Airports is once again sponsoring the WTA Grand Final Gala Ceremony. The event will be attended by hundreds of senior airline, hotel and tourism industry officials,’ Oman Airports stated.

On the important event, Sheikh Aimen Ahmed al Hosni, CEO of Oman Airports, said, “Having hosted the 26th edition of this prestigious global event with great success, we are pleased to once again invite major players in the tourism industry to visit Oman and attend the WTA Grand Final Gala Ceremony.”

He added that Oman is confident that the presence of the best travel and tourism companies from around the world, and the accompanying media coverage, will reflect positively on the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism’s efforts to promote the country as a global tourism hub.

Graham Cooke, founder of WTA, said, “It is an honour to host our Grand Final Gala Ceremony in Muscat for the second time. Our first ceremony in Oman, in 2019, was a great success that prompted us to repeat the experience and return to this beautiful country again. In recent years, the Sultanate of Oman has emerged as one of the top destinations for millions of travellers, as well as a major regional hub. It will be an honour for me to welcome top decision makers from major travel and tourism companies to the beautiful capital city of Oman.”

Each year WTA covers the globe with its Grand Tour – a series of regional gala ceremonies to recognise excellence within each continent, culminating in a Grand Final at the end of the year. The winners of these regional ceremonies will compete in the Grand Final in Oman on November 11 when the winners of the prestigious World categories will be unveiled.
