Muscat- In a first of its kind event in Muscat, CMS Cameron, Mckenna, Nabarro, Olswang LLP (CMS) – Oman’s leading international law firm in partnership with the Oman American Business Center (OABC) is hosting a seminar on Intellectual Property at the Kempinski Hotel on Monday.
CMS will be presenting alongside Silverline, a cultural consultancy that leverages technology to improve the cultural and creative economic value of communities, said a press statement.
‘Together, they will be advising on what Intellectual Property (IP) is and its different categories, the importance of protecting it and the challenges that exist in doing so. Using case histories specific to Oman’s market, CMS will suggest the importance of IP registration and the potential negative impact on a business of getting it wrong.’
After introducing themselves and the crucial cultural work and research they are noted for, Silverline will highlight the three basic rules of proof of IP ownership, the role of blockchain and the economic value of intangible assets. They will also be demonstrating a unique tool that enables efficient IP management and digital notarisation of files. The seminar will also be delving into the issuance of Bitcoin registration and certification of ownership and timestamp certificates for the EU and Chinese government authorities.
In the light of a fast-paced technological world economy, Oman’s business community can learn how the CMS and Silverline partnership will be on hand to assist in protecting intellectual and economic property rights of both existing and emerging businesses.
