21 Sep 2022

Muscat – The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) launched a service guide to enhance the business environment for investors on Wednesday.

The guide was launched at a media briefing attended by H E Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, and senior ministry officials.

The guide provides details on the 180 services offered by the ministry. It includes eight basic criteria for each service, such as the requirements and controls, documentation, average time to complete the service, fees and payment mechanism and contact points for the service.

The meeting also reviewed the electronic services offered by the ministry, which allow completion of investors’ transactions electronically through the Invest Easy portal, without the need for investors to visit the ministry.

‘The portal aims to enhance Oman’s international indicators linked to the ease of starting a business. It also facilitates selling of shares by commercial institutions and companies, transfer of ownership of commercial registry to another investor, or entering new partnerships,’ the ministry stated.

The briefing also presented details on the Corporate Governance Charter for Closed Commercial Companies, with the aim of encouraging companies to make optimal and appropriate investments corresponding to their capacity and resources.

MoCIIP informed that its call centre received nearly 13,500 calls in the last six months.
Through launch of various electronic services, MoCIIP seeks to complete the requirements of the National Programme for the Digital Economy, and the Executive Plan of the Government Digital Transformation Programme 2021-2025.
