6 Sep 2022

Muscat – The Ministry of Economy started an eight-week workshop on Tuesday to evaluate and choose new development projects submitted for 2023. Oman’s 2023 budget will focus on achieving financial sustainability as well as accelerating implementation of development projects across sectors.

The ministry’s special team for assessing development projects deliberated on the projects with various stakeholders and government units.

The special team comprises representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Secretariat General of Tender Board, Ministry of Finance, Government Projects Management Office, National Programme for Fiscal Balance and departments concerned with each project.

The Ministry of Economy has prepared a matrix model for the assessment and selection of development projects which meet current and future needs in line with Oman Vision 2040, the Tenth Five-Year Development Plan (2021-2025) and national strategies, it stated.

In May, the ministry organised a workshop to evaluate projects in the first phase. The workshop was attended by more than 170 participants from various government agencies.

The budget estimates of various government units were submitted online on July 31.
